Anxious striker wait

Kilmarnock, 15:24, August 4, 2009 ,

Jim Jefferies says Kilmarnock are hoping a pain-killing injection will solve the rib injury that is currently hampering Kevin Kyle.

The recently-appointed Killie captain is yet to feature for the first team in pre-season due to a muscle strain, a real concern for Jefferies as he prepares for next weekend's opening game against Hamilton.
Jefferies told the Daily Record: "Kevin was worried it was something to do with the hernia op and maybe coming back too quickly.
"We won't take any risks with him this week. He'll just train next week and hopefully be fit for the start of the season."
