Jefferies keen on Robinson

Kilmarnock, 14:51, July 3, 2009 ,

Killie boss Jim Jefferies has admitted his interest in ex-Rangers keeper Lee Robinson but denies a deal has been done.

The former Hearts boss made it clear that he was keen to strengthen his goalkeeping ranks and initially went for French shot-stopper Damien Rascle.
However the deal fell through when the player failed a medical and so Jefferies has now turned to Robinson, who left Ibrox at the end of the season after falling out of contract.
The Killie manager hopes to get the deal sorted as soon as possible and expressed his disappointment at Rascle's misfortune.
"It's imperative that we have another goalkeeper signed for the new season, and I'll be talking to Lee about him joining us," he told the Kilmarnock Standard.
"Nothing has been agreed ahead of the meeting, but he's a young guy with a fair bit of experience under his belt.
"We had to accept the advice of the medical people after a second opinion came up with the same problem.
"It's a real shame, because Damien had done so well for us but it's just one of those unfortunate things that football throws up. We just couldn't take the risk."
