Johnston- Kyle not to blame for sacking

Kilmarnock, 12:51, January 12, 2010 ,

Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnstone has insisted Kevin Kyle's comments had nothing to do with the sacking of Jim Jefferies.

Scotland international Kyle told the media last week that Johnston had questioned him about the former manager's tactics and the chairman has confirmed the player will be subjected to the club's disciplinary procedures but refused to reveal any more details.
Johnstone said the two issues were unrelated and although he was saddened by Jefferies' exit, he believed it was the right move for the club.
He told BBC Scotland: "Supporters were becoming frustrated and that maybe played a part in his decision to reach this agreement. I have always supported Jim Jefferies.
"I gave him a new a new contract not so long ago that would have seen him here till 2012.''
The chairman was also keen to keep the details of the disciplinary action against Kyle private after admitting he was frustrated at the way Jefferies' departure had leaked out to the media.
"We need to put a stop to that, so I'm not going to go into Kevin Kyle's disciplinary proceedings."
