Killie to draft in defenders
Kilmarnock, 14:52, January 21, 2010 ,
Kilmarnock boss Jimmy Calderwood has been given the go-ahead to delve into the transfer market to ease the club's injury crisis.
Frazer Wright could be sidelined for the next six weeks as his ankle problem requires an operation, while Ryan O'Leary has suffered a knee injury and will definitely miss the weekend's game at Aberdeen.
Calderwood though has managed to convince chairman Michael Johnston to loosen the purse strings, with defenders the top priority this transfer window.
Calderwood said: "I was under the impression we could do little in the transfer market but the chairman is agreeable to bringing in a couple of players on loan.
"It's a tactic that worked well for us at Aberdeen, where we got guys likes Sone Aluko, Josh Walker and Javan Vidal.
"We don't have too many defenders to call on and in light of injuries to Ryan and Frazer we may look to negotiate something."
