Abidal undergoes liver transplant op

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed that defender Eric Abidal underwent liver transplant surgery on Tuesday afternoon.

Guardiola spoke out on 32-year-old Abidal following his side's 4-0 thrashing of Getafe on Tuesday after he underwent the operation on his liver having had more problems following surgery to remove a tumor in March last year. And Guardiola said: "Before coming here, I've been told that the operation has been finished, and we'll have to wait 48 hours to see his evolution. "We have to be prudent. During the week we'll know more. The next days will be crucial to see how it goes. We've got plenty of faith in such a strong man."
