Spain Under-23 striker Adrian Lopez is hopeful that Barcelona will allow new signing Jordi Alba to take part in the Olympics.
Coach Luis Milla has named the attacking left-back in his provisional squad for the games in London but it is still unclear whether the Catalan club will allow the 23-year-old to play in the event due to his recent participation at Euro 2012. Alba himself has said he wants to participate in the competition and Lopez believes he'll add an extra dimension to the squad if allowed to take part. "Barcelona are looking after their own interests but it is an issue that must be resolved with the [Spanish Football] Federation," the Atletico Madrid forward told reporters. "It would be very important for him to be with us. He is a great player, as he demonstrated in the European Championship."
