Barcelona star Dani Alves has criticised Chelsea for showing fear in their 2009 Champions League semi-final.
The two teams meet in another semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and Alves has blasted the Premier League club's performance three years ago.
Chelsea took a 1-0 home lead after a goalless first leg but went on to lose the tie on away goals after Andres Iniesta scored for ten-man Barcelona in second-half stoppage time and Alves believes the English outfit did not deserve to win.
He told The Guardian: "There's no doubt that was the hardest game we've played.
"People say Chelsea would have won if it wasn't for the referee, but what can we do about that? I think that Chelsea didn't reach the final because of fear.
"The team that have a man more, at home, winning 1-0, should have attacked us. Chelsea lacked the courage to take a step forward. Instead, they took a step back and they paid for it."
