Athletico confirm second Courtois loan

Athletico Madrid have confirmed that Thibaut Courtois will spend a second year on loan at the club in the 2012/13 season.

The highly-rated 20-year-old Belgian goalkeeper was signed by Chelsea from Racing Genk in 2011, but he has yet to make an appearance for the Premier League outfit as he spent the entire last campaign on loan at the Vicente Calderon. He made 37 La Liga appearances and another 15 as Athletico won the Europa League, while he also made his debut for Belgium during a successful campaign. Athletico have confirmed in a statement: "Thibaut Courtois will play next season at Atletico Madrid after an agreement was reached on Wednesday with Chelsea for a season-long loan." The club have also stated that Alvaro Dominguez has left the club to sign for German side Borussia Monchengladbach.
