Butragueno 'proud' of Madrid players
Emiliano Butragueno says that Real Madrid have still had an 'exceptional season' despite their Champions League exit to Bayern Munich.
Los Blancos beat the German side 2-1 at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night but after losing the first-leg by the same score, the tie went to penalties with Bayern coming out 3-1 victors.
However, former striker Butragueno, who is now a director at the club, has told the players not to get too downhearted given that they're set to win the La Liga title for the first time in four seasons.
"The team are having an exceptional season," he said. "Our numbers in La Liga are incredible and we've gone very far in the Champions League, which is expected of us."
"The team tried everything to reach the final and we're proud of our players," he added.
