Marcelo faces foot op

Marcelo is set to fly to Amsterdam to undergo surgery on the broken foot which will sideline the Real Madrid defender for three months.

The 24-year-old, who fractured his fifth metatarsal while on international duty with Brazil, is hoping Dr. Niek Van Dijk in the Netherlands can help cut down his recovery time when he jets out to see him on Friday. Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie have all been treated by Dr Van Dijk in the past with success, but Marcelo is still unlikely to be fit until January.
