Premier big guns in Alba scrap

Manchester United and rivals City are set to scrap it out for the signature of Valencia's Spanish left-back Jordi Alba in the summer.

The 23-year-old, who was released by Barcelona as a youngster, has become a £15million-rated defender at the Mestalla and forced his way into the Spain national side last year.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra as Brazilian Fabio is going out on loan, while City chief Roberto Mancini is looking to bolster his reraguard.
