Puyol doubtful for Euros
Barcelona captain Carles Puyol could miss the Euro 2012 finals after it was revealed that he is set to undergo knee surgery.
The 34-year-old complained of discomfort in his knee following Barca's 4-0 victory over Espanyol on Saturday and he will now go under the surgeon's knife. On the club's official website, Barca said Puyol decided to "undergo an arthroscopy on May 12" and that the approximate recuperation period is six weeks. That means he will definitely miss the Catalans' final La Liga clash of the campaign against Real Betis at the weekend and faces a race against time to make it back for the Ukraine and Poland show-piece. Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque will announce a provisional squad on May 15 which will then be whittled down when the final party is confirmed on May 27.
