Rakitic welcomes Modric move

Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic believes Real Madrid target Luka Modric would be a "very good choice" for Los Blancos.

Tottenham midfielder Modric has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital all summer, though the club have been reluctant to meet the Premier League club's £30million asking price. The 26-year-old is determined to leave White Hart Lane and did not play a single game for the London club in pre-season as he tries to push through a move. However, Spurs are keen to raise as much cash as possible and reportedly offered the play-maker to Chelsea in an attempt to sell him for the right fee. But in a further twist, Modric was spotted in Madrid on Tuesday, raising speculation that a move to the Spanish capital may be on after all. Should a transfer finally go through, Rakitic, who roomed with Modric at Euro 2012, thinks he will be a great acquisition for Jose Mourinho's men. "If he ends up at Real Madrid he will be a very good option," he said. "Real will be very happy with Luka because he is a player who likes to be near the goal."
