Riesgo eyes cup boost
Osasuna goalkeeper Asier Riesgo hopes victory over Sporting Gijon in the Copa del Rey will help revive the club's fortunes this season.
Los Rojillos are currently bottom of the La Liga standings, having won just one league game all season. They have picked up five points in total and have already suffered six defeats and look set for a battle against relegation all season long. They take on Sporting Gijon in the first leg of the competition on Thursday and Riesgo feels it is a good opportunity to get another victory under their belts to boost the confidence of the players. "You have to look at this game and not any further," he said. "We are attentive to this tie, to compete, stand up and attempt to progress to the next round. "We are prepared to give a good account of ourselves and get a good result, considering that the other leg will be in Pamplona. "We are currently not in the best position in the League, we are in a difficult moment. It is why we have to be calm to try and fix it. You have to remain so and work on turning things around."
