Soldado surprised by recall

Valencia skipper Roberto Soldado has revealed his surprise at being recalled to the Spain squad.

The striker missed out on a place at Euro 2012, with boss Vicente del Bosque instead preferring Alvaro Negredo, Fernando Llorente and Fernando Torres, but has looked sharp in the opening stages of the season.
His form has been rewarded with a recall to the squad for the World Cup qualifier against Georgia and the friendly against Saudi Arabia, but he is taking nothing for granted and accepts that he has his work cut out to keep his place.
"It is always important to be called up, whether it be a friendly or a World Cup qualifier," he said. "I am realistic and know that it will not be easy, but now that I have been given the chance by the coach I must take the opportunity."
