Valdes in Liverpool switch
Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is reportedly being targeted by Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad.
The Spanish international has confirmed that he will be leaving the Nou Camp at the end of the season, ending a 19-year spell with the Catalans, where the shot stopper has picked up six La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies and two European Super Cups amongst other accolades.
There have been a host of top European sides interested in signing Valdes, but it now looks as if Liverpool have emerged as front-runners for the Spaniard.
Simon Mignolet has produced some brilliant performances since moving to the English club last summer, but the Belgian has rarely been pushed by replacement Brad Jones who has never looked like forcing the former Sunderland player out of the first team.
Rodgers is reportedly keen to provide some competition for places at Anfield and Valdes is said to be top of the list when the summer transfer window opens.
Liverpool have been said to have already offered a deal to the Barcelona keeper in a bid to stave of interest from a number of other clubs, with the wealthy duo of Monaco and Manchester City also interested.
