Alex calls for caution
Alex believes Paris Saint-Germain can build "something special", but insists it will take time to reach the top of European football.
The French giants narrowly missed out on the Ligue 1 title last season but have made several impressive signings and are expected to lift the trophy at the end of the upcoming campaign. However, Alex has called for caution. "A team needs at least two seasons to gel properly and get into a position to challenge regularly for trophies. When I joined PSG, it was clear to me we would not start winning overnight," the former Chelsea defender told Uefa's Champions magazine. "Qatar Sports Investment certainly haven't come to PSG and committed so many resources not to win tournaments, though. But I have faith - we have a chance to build something special." Paris Saint-Germain open their Ligue 1 season at home to Lorient on August 10.
