France coach Laurent Blanc has praised his old side Montpellier after they clinched the Ligue 1 title on Sunday.
Montpellier are champions of France for the first time following a dramatic final day that saw them win at Auxerre to maintain their three point advantage over Paris Saint-Germain, who also won at Lorient. Blanc, who is a product of the club's youth academy, made more than 250 appearances for La Paillade between 1983-91. The 46-year-old is currently preparing to guide France at Euro 2012, but took time out praise his old club for their achievements. "It isn't easy to reach 82 points in France. While they may have struggled at times, overall, they were one of the most attractive sides to watch this season. What they have achieved is simply marvellous," he said. "They have proved that a club with a solid youth academy policy can finish champion."
