St Etienne have confirmed the signing of striker Brandao on a two-year deal after his release by Marseille at the end of last season.
The 32-year-old joined Marseille in 2009 but, after initially enjoying some success, saw his playing time limited and he went out on loan to Cruzeiro and Gremio. It always looked like last season would be his final one with the club and he was let go in June to find new employers. The Brazilian has been picked up by St Etienne and the club's chief executive Roland Romeyer was delighted to have secured the services of the former Shakhtar Donetsk star. "Everyone knows the qualities of Brandao," he said. "He is a player who works hard, a warrior who does not shrink from the fight. "Throughout his career he has scored important goals. His record speaks for itself, he's a competitor."
