Celtic eye Ciani swoop
Scottish club Celtic are reportedly keen on Bordeaux's Michael Ciani, as they look to bolster the squad for their SPL defence.
The 28-year-old central defender has played for six clubs in his career and been capped internationally once for France back in 2010. He was linked with a move to Arsenal in 2011 and scouts were sent to watch his progress, but boss Arsene Wenger opted to look elsewhere. Reports in the French press suggest that Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic are also interested in the talented stopper, but Celtic appear to be in the driving seat having started discussions with the player's representatives. Ciani only has one year left on his contract and has not renewed this summer so the club may be willing to let him go and Celtic could get themselves the big defender for a bargain price.
