Rene Girard insists Montpellier have a long way to go if they are to lift the Ligue 1 title for the first time in their history.

Montpellier travel to relegation-threatened Lorient on Sunday buoyed by a 3-1 midweek victory at Marseille. The result left Girard's side three points clear of Paris St Germain at the top of the table and virtually ensured a place in next season's Champions League. However, the Montpellier coach believes the lack of experience in the camp could count against them during the run-in. "We still have a month to go and mentally it is going to affect them. When you have young players and you face Paris, with boys who have played in the Champions League, you wonder what will happen," Girard said. "But we are here and we will see. We have a team of talented footballers with strong minds."
