Inter join race for Lille stopper

Inter Milan are set to rival Newcastle this summer for the signature of Lille's French defender Mathieu Debuchy.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew was looking to snap up the 26-year-old full-back before Euro 2012, as Danny Simpson seems set to leave the Sports Direct Arena this summer. However, having failed to push through a move, it has opened the door for Inter to join the chase, as they look to find a replacement for the outgoing Brazilian star Maicon. Inter even sent scouts to watch Debuchy impress in France's 4-0 win in their final warm-up game against Estonia in Le Mans on Tuesday evening.
