Montpellier confirm Giroud exit clause
Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has confirmed in-demand striker Olivier Giroud will be allowed to leave this summer.
The highly-rated forward has been linked to plenty of top clubs in England, Spain and Italy recently after starring for Montpellier and helping them win the French title.
Some fans had hoped the France international could be persuaded to stay at the club after the successful campaign but Nicollin has confirmed he is set to exit as he has a clause in his contract.
"The only one who can leave is Olivier Giroud because he has a clause," he told reporters in France.
Ligue 1 top scorer Giroud was heavily linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich but their recent deal to sign Claudio Pizarro from Werder Bremen has cast doubt over that possibility.
