Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila is set to miss out on France's opening Euro 2012 clash with England on Monday.
M'Vila has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer after some impressive displays for Rennes but he looks like being unable to get the chance to shine in his country's opening European Championship game against England due to a problematic ankle injury.
Team doctor Fabrice Bryand has insisted that M'Vila is making good progress but Monday's game is likely to come too early.
"His progress is good but we do not want to aggravate the injury," Bryand told L'Equipe.
"We are not optimistic for the 11th.
"We will increase his workload and see if his ankle swells again or if he suffers any ill effects. We will pay close attention to the player's recovery."
