Marseille's France international striker Loic Remy has been ruled out of Euro 2012 after failing to recover from a thigh injury.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury in Marseille's 3-0 win over Auxerre and he looked set for a race against time to be fit for the summer show-piece event in Ukraine and Poland. However, the French Federation said in a statement on Friday: "Loic Remy is out of Euro 2012. He hasn't fully recovered from his injury." The news is a boost for England, who are in Group D with the French, co-hosts Ukraine and Sweden. Coach Laurent Blanc has not yet named his final 23-man squad and he will look elsewhere to fill his striking ranks for a tournament that could see Les Bleus ruffle a few feathers.
