Abbott not giving up hope

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott was in defiant mood despite watching his side fall to a damaging defeat against play-off rivals Stevenage.

United went into the clash at the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday three points ahead of Stevenage and one behind sixth-placed Notts County. Instead of regaining a play-off spot, Carlisle dropped one place to eighth courtesy of John Mousinho's late strike. Rather than dwell on defeat, Abbott chose to look forward to the final three games and said: "We have to believe that we can win them all. "It's now any one from four teams who will take that sixth spot and we're right there and involved. "There'll be some twists and turns in the next three weeks and we just have to make sure that we're in a position to take advantage if we can." Carlisle travel to automatic promotion-chasing Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
