Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter has issued a public apology after seeing red in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Preston.
Arter was sent off for two bookable offences in the space of five first-half minutes in the clash at Dean Court, the first red card of his career.
"I let down the manager, the players and, most importantly, the supporters. I am ashamed and know I have got to start looking at myself and grow up," the 22-year-old told the Bournemouth Echo.
"I have apologised to the manager and my team-mates and want to say sorry to the supporters and everyone else connected with the club as well.
"I was really upset and know for a fact it won't happen again."
Arter will miss Saturday's trip to Sheffield United through suspension. He could also face a club fine.
