Liddle expects Magpies challenge

New Notts County signing Gary Liddle expects the Magpies to be challenging for promotion from League One next season.

The 26-year-old joined County from Hartlepool United after rejecting a new deal at Victoria Park and signed a two-year deal with Keith Curle's side, who narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last season. And Liddle is hoping that the club can go one step further in the 2012/13 campaign, saying that the battle for promotion should be wide open. "I'm thrilled to be here. I knew from the first time I met the manager that I wanted to come here. It was just after I decided to leave Hartlepool - they were the first people I met," said Liddle. "I left the meeting knowing I wanted to play my football here because of the ambition of the club, the division is going to be wide open. Hopefully we will be right up there making a push for promotion."
