New Gillingham manager Martin Allen says the club are ready to begin making movement in the summer transfer window.

Allen was installed as Andy Hessenthaler's replacement on Thursday and is now eyeing potential targets for the League Two club, who are hoping to push for promotion in the upcoming campaign. "If we can bring some new faces in, some good players that will improve our starting eleven then it will be exciting," he told BBC Radio Kent. "You've got to aim for promotion and I think we do need to improve the team. I've discussed this with Andy (Hessenthaler) and the chairman at length and all three of us are in full agreement that we need to improve the starting eleven. "We don't need much work done on the extra squad, maybe one or two as there are now seven subs nowadays, but to improve the starting eleven is the key."
