AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown has confirmed Mat Mitchel-King will skipper the side this season.
Brown has been searching for a new captain after releasing Jamie Stuart and Gareth Gwillim earlier this summer. Mitchel-King was expected to step into the role at the end of last term but the Dons manager wanted to wait until nearer the start of the new campaign before making his final decision. "Mat Mitchel-King is the skipper of the side. I know he's got the support of the players and that is very important," said Brown. Mitchel-King will partner new arrival Pim Balkestein at the heart of the Dons defence and Brown is hoping they form a solid partnership. "He's a very experienced player and he's getting his game together at the moment, trying to strike up and understanding with Pim, and there is still a bit of work to do there," Brown added.
