It is understood Ian Harte turned down interest from former employers Leeds United in favour of a new contract with Reading.

The left back made a staggering 213 appearance and bagged 28 goals during his eight year stay at Elland Road. However, it has been releavlled that Harte chose to snub a chance to return to club as he felt his current club reading is "fantastic". The 34-year-old signed a new one-year deal with the newly promoted Royals giving him a chance to play in the Premier League once again. Speaking to Jonny Fordham of the Reading Post, Harte said: "I got a phone call about 10 days ago saying they were interested. I love it down here and these have been the best two years of my career. It would be silly to leave such a fantastic club like Reading." Leeds' bad luck in the transfer market continues, after making a swift start in the transfer market by successfully luring Jason Pearce to the club, The Whites have hit a snag as the race for Joel Ward seems to be slipping through their fingers and no further deals are on the Elland Road Horizon.
