Warnock eyes Pearce move
Leeds manager Neil Warnock hopes to complete his first summer signing on Friday with Portsmouth defender Jason Pearce expected to join.
Up to 11 first-team players were either placed on the transfer list or told they would not be getting new deals at the end of their current contracts when Warnock released his retained list on Wednesday and the Leeds boss is hoping to finalise several other deals before the end of the month. Warnock said: "I'm hoping to make my first signing [on Friday]. I'm looking forward to notching one hopefully and then moving on to my next. I'm into talks with quite a number at the minute and it's been a busy 48 hours. "He's the type of player I look for when I go into a club. At Championship level there's a certain type of lad I'm looking at and he fits everything that I'm looking for, hunger, ability, there's a lot of pluses I look for. "Different managers look for different things don't they? But I've thought for a while we lack a bit of power and a bit of pace and that's what I'll be looking to add to the squad with a number of signings over the next few weeks." When asked if he wanted to bring in six or seven other new players, Warnock added: "At least that. There will be a large influx of players, depending on the lads I transfer-listed as well, if some of them go, which I'm sure they will, there will be interest in a number of those lads, then that will free wages and transfer fees up to put towards the kitty."
