Leeds manager Neil Warnock said he made El-Hadji Diouf captain in Tuesday night's 2-2 draw at former club Bolton out of respect for the player.
Diouf, 31, who has been a revelation for Leeds since controversially teaming up with Warnock at Elland Road in the summer, laid on both goals for his latest side on his return to the Reebok Stadium. "He was super for Bolton, he was brilliant when he played here for Sam (Allardyce) for that time and I just thought it was the right thing to do really," said Warnock, who once described the Senegalese forward as "a sewer rat" during his time as QPR boss. He added: "It was a matter of respect. He's been brilliant for me. I can't explain how much he's given us both on and off the pitch."
