Whites are not on a downer - Grayson
Leeds United, 16:30, January 18, 2010 ,
Simon Grayson has rubbished claims Leeds are on a 'downward spiral' after they lost only their second match of the season at Exeter.
The League One leaders have only managed one point from games against Wycombe and the Grecians respectively since winning at Manchester United in the FA Cup on January 3. And with Norwich now only three points behind the Whites after a 5-0 win at Colchester, there are suggestions that they are now starting to feel the heat in the promotion battle.
However Grayson has scotched those claims and is backing his men to go on another long unbeaten run after a first defeat in 18 league games.
He said: "It is disappointing to take just one point out of six from the games against Wycombe and Exeter but losing only two league games all season isn't bad.
"When we lost at Millwall in October we responded by going on a long undefeated run and we will look to do the same. People will say we are on a downward spiral but that's not the case.
"We have a strong squad but it was a heavy pitch at Exeter and we tried to play as if it was a normal dry surface. Credit to Exeter, they played percentage football and worked us a lot harder in the first half.
"We responded in the second half but didn't get the breaks in front of goal. It was a great strike for their second goal and it killed the game off."
