Liverpool news

Liverpool are the most successful English club in history, winning 18 league titles and five European Cups.

The Reds, who were formed in 1892, are still striving for their first Premier League title but have won three major titles under current boss Rafa Benitez, including the 2005 Champions League.

Their current home of Anfield has a capacity of 45,362 but the club have been granted planning permission to build a new 60,000 all-seater stadium at Stanley Park.

Liverpool have played 94 seasons in the top flight and are one of seven clubs to have played in every season of the Premier League since the competition was formed in 1992.

Key players for the 2008 campaign include, Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane, Javier Mascherano and Jamie Carragher.

Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Kevin Keegan and Alan Hansen are among a long list of illustrious names in Liverpool’s famous past.
