AC set for Agger swoop

Liverpool, 11:42, January 5, 2009

AC Milan are set to make a £6m move for defender Daniel Agger as Liverpool continue to be linked with Glen Johnson.

The Danish international has been linked with a move to Italy over the past six months as he appears to be no closer to agreeing a new deal at Anfield and with the Reds linked with a move for the Portsmouth defender Johnson it could be that Agger is allowed to leave.

The Rossoneri are reported in the the Gazetta Della Sport to be ready to offer just over £6.5m - a sum that Liverpool would be likely to accept.

Agger has consistently said he wants to stay at Anfield and only recently claimed: "Of course I want to stay if it is possible.

"As I say, the club is dealing with my contract talks and we will take it from there."
