Martin Skrtel is keen to hold talks with Brendan Rodgers about his Liverpool future amid interest in the defender from other clubs.
The Slovakian, 27, was Liverpool's Player of the Season last term but will seek assurances that he is firmly in the plans of the new manager and what the club's ambitions for next season are now that Kenny Dalglish is gone. Skrtel still has two years left on his current deal but is hoping to earn a pay rise from the club after his performances last season sparked the interest of rival Premier League sides. Manchester City are believed to be keen after they failed to lure Thiago Silva away from AC Milan, putting Srtel in a strong bargaining position as he prepares to sit down with Rodgers when he returns from his honeymoon. Karol Cstonto, the Slovak's agent, admitted Skrtel ? who is also interesting big-spending Russians Anzhi Makhachkala ? needs to meet Rodgers before committing his future. Cstonto revealed: "Some changes have been made at the club and he wants to know what the aims and ambitions are. And of course, we will discuss the issue of Martin's new contract. "Liverpool is a big club and just because they haven't made the Champions League this year doesn't mean they would not do it next year. There are expectations on both sides, though."
