Another star destined for Spain

Liverpool, 17:26, November 15, 2009

Javier Mascherano could be a Barcelona player by January if reports are to be believed about a move away from Liverpool.

The Sunday Express claim his advisers have agreed personal terms with Barca and it's just now a case of when rather than if he leaves the Reds.

Mascherano is understood to be desperate to complete a switch to the Nou Camp and can expect to earn around €120,000-a-week with the European champions.

The Catalan giants have been trying to sign the Argentinian since the summer but Liverpool rejected their advances then having sold Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.

However, their original interest seemed to unsettle the player who soon afterwards claimed he wanted to leave because his wife couldn't adjust to life in England.
