Aquilani in line for Mersey derby test

Liverpool's £20m summer signing Alberto Aquilani may play some part in the Merseyside derby, but Fernando Torres faces a late test.

Italian Aquilani has made just three substitute appearances since his move from Roma, playing just 22 minutes of first-team football for the Reds, and reports suggest he may make an appearance from the bench on Sunday.

Torres, who scored a brace in Liverpool's 2-0 victory at Goodison last season, faces a test on a groin problem although it looks likely he will have to miss out on the short trip.

Albert Riera has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, while Philipp Degen serves the final match of his three-game suspension.
