Battle on for Spanish boss
Liverpool remain in negotiations with Roberto Martinez but it's understood Aston Villa are also still keen on the Spaniard.
The Wigan boss is locked in talks with Liverpool's owners but he is still high on Villa's wanted list and they will make another approach if discussions with the Reds fail to reach a successful conclusion. It is not the first time Villa have moved for Martinez, after failing to land the former Swansea boss 12 months ago when the Spaniard opted to stay at Wigan, but he could be tempted this time should a move to Liverpool collapse. Liverpool do have other candidates for the vacant managerial post but a decision could be made in the next few days over Martinez, especially if they fear he may move elsewhere. Andre Villas-Boas and Rafa Benitez are also both said to be on the shortlist drawn up by principal owner John W Henry.
