England midfielder Steven Gerrard has admitted the loss of Gary Cahill to the Euro 2012 squad is a massive blow.
Cahill has been ruled out after fracturing his jaw in the final warm up victory over Belgium a the weekend and Reds defender Martin Kelly has been called up into the squad as a replacement but Gerrard admits it is a blow to the side.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Gerrard believes the absence of key personnel will hamper England's chances of success in Poland and Ukraine.
"Losing Gary [Cahill] is a massive blow, his performances in the last six months have been colossal for Chelsea.
"He was a colossus in the Champions League final win over Bayern Munich. We needed him."
