Clint set to make Reds day

Liverpool boss Brenden Rodgers is close to landing another target after agreeing a £10m deal to sign Clint Dempsey from Fulham.

The American will sign for the Reds after Rodgers missed out on his number one target Gylfi Sigurdsson, who opted for Spurs instead claiming they had better players and more ambition. Dempsey was on fire for Fulham last season but has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage and their boss Martin Jol would prefer to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer. With 17 Premier League goals to his name last season there would be no shortage of takers should he become available but the Reds remain favourites to land him.
