Cole up for grabs

Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for Joe Cole, who could be on the move before the transfer window closes this week.

Cole was hoping the arrival of Brendan Rodgers would give him a fresh chance to make a name for himself at Anfield but he has failed to impress in pre-season and now looks set to move on. The midfielder spent the whole of last season on loan with French outfit Lille and there is a chance he could return to the continent although there will be no shortage of clubs in England willing to take him on. Reds boss Rodgers is looking to fund a swoop for Fulham star Clint Dempsey by cashing in on some of his fringe players and Cole along with Jay Spearing will be allowed to move on. Following the arrival of Nuri Sahin and Joe Allen, Cole has been pushed even further down the pecking order and a move away seems the best way forward for all concerned.
