Defender boost for Reds
Liverpool are to be handed a massive boost with the news that centre back Daniel Agger is set to sign a new deal at Anfield.
The Danish centre half, sent off on the opening day of the season against West Brom, is said to be on the verge of a new deal at the club following weeks of speculation over his future. Manchester City have been at the front of the queue for his services and were ready to pay upwards of £25m to land him but Barcelona and others have also shown an interest. Liverpool have been keen to keep him at Anfield and are ready to offer him in the region of £80,000 a week, and reports claim that the player has now decided to stay where he is and sign a new deal with the Reds.
