Liverpool are hopeful that Fabio Aurelio will be fit to return to the squad for Sunday's crunch clash with Arsenal.
The Brazilian has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury, picked up in the Champions League win over Marseille on November 26, but could feature in the matchday party for the trip to the Emirates.
Aurelio is likely to replace Andrea Dossena at left-back, but the game is expected to come too soon for Fernando Torres, who is still sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Its understood that the Spanish international could be fit to face Bolton on Boxing Day, but Robbie Keane is likely to start in his absence against the Gunners.
Martini Skrtel has returned to full training after two months out with knee ligament damage, but will not be considered for the trip to Arsenal and is believed to be targeting the game against Newcastle on December 28.
