Swansea are thought to want around £5m in compensation if manager Brendan Rodgers leaves to join Liverpool as their new boss.

Rodgers is well and truly back in the picture after apparently being reassured that he was not in a race with a whole host of candidates, his main rival appears to be Wigan's Roberto Martinez. Swansea claim nothing has changed since they originally turned down a Reds approach to speak to Rodgers but it is now reported they would want a compensation package of between £4m and £5m for his services. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has given Liverpool until Thursday to decide whether they will offer Martinez a contract but he believes the Reds have yet to make up their mind. "If it is true that Liverpool want to speak with Brendan Rodgers it proves they don't know who they want as manager," Whelan told ESPN. "I hope they choose Brendan Rodgers. "Roberto has told me he is speaking with Liverpool again on Tuesday. "I have now made it clear that I want this sorted out by Thursday at the latest as we have to get on preparing for next season."
