Full-back switch on cards

Liverpool, 09:15, June 23, 2009 ,

Alvaro Arbeloa is expected to move to Real Madrid after Liverpool confirmed they have agreed a deal for England defender Glenn Johnson.

Speculation was mounting last season that Arbeloa, who cost the Reds around £3million from Deportivo La Coruna, was unsettled in England and was seeking a return to Spain.
Now with Johnson's imminent arrival at Anfield, it looks like Spanish international Arbeloa could head to the Bernabeu in a deal reportedly worth around £8million.
Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest Real are set to step-up their attempts to sign Xabi Alonso, with claims that a £30million offer could be in the pipeline.
The Reds are adamant that Alonso, also a target for Chelsea, is not for sale and it would come as a major surprise if they were tempted into a sale having seen Gareth Barry move to Manchester City.
