Italian raid expected

Liverpool, 09:10, January 22, 2009 ,

Liverpool are preparing themselves for an Italian raid as Juventus want to take striker Dirk Kuyt to Turin in the summer.

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has moved on Liverpool stars in the past and signed Momo Sissoko a year ago. And he also tried, but failed, to sign Xabi Alonso last summer while he now has targeted a move for the versatile Kuyt.
The Dutchman has been used on the right wing during the past season rather than as an out-and-out striker and has made himself an invaluable member of Rafa Benitez' first-team squad.
The Reds boss is a big fan of Kuyt and his tireless displays for the side so he would be very reluctant to allow him to leave, with that in mind Benitez is likely to want to start new contract talks with the player as soon as possible as his current deals runs out in 18 months' time.
