Barcelona are ready to make an attempt to sign Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina after contract talks with Victor Valdes broke down.
The Catalan giants have also been linked with midfielder Javier Mascherano over the past few weeks but the news that they are now pondering a move for Reina will be unwelcome at Anfield.
Barca's talks with Valdes, who has a year left on his contract, have broken down as he has been pushing for parity with Xavi who is paid £150,000 a week and the club are reluctant to offer that sort of money.
