Lionel Messi feels Liverpool are the team to beat in this season's Champions League with the Barcelona ace impressed by the Reds squad.
The Reds are on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages as they prepare to play at Atletico Madrid at Anfield this weekend, with Rafa Benitez looking to win his second Champions League title and reach his third final with the Reds.
Despite the recent impressive form of Barcelona, who have won all three of their group games, Messi believes Liverpool, looking for their sixth European Cup success, are the most dangerous side in the competition.
The Argentinian admitted: "If I had to choose anyone to win the Champions League then it would be Liverpool.
"They have great players like Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt and Javier Mascherano, and they are difficult to play against."
Messi added: "Maybe there are teams that play better football, but I can see them getting to the final in Rome."
